Vision
The photo depicts the titular sanctuary/nature preserve (you don't seem to have given a location?). However it also attempts to give off the impression that it is a sanctuary of a different sort, one that isn't seen upon first glance.

Originality
Landscape/nature pics are quite common these days, hence the average rating. It is then up to the artist to display these pictures in a way that brings out fresh meaning and/or impact, as I'll find out later in this critique.

Technique (Note: I get very nitpicky with this...)
Very balanced composition, with an acceptable minimum of color variation. There is some visible lens flare by the sun, and the darkness of the sky at the top of the picture seems to shift the composition off-center somewhat given the border. The watermark also seems to distract from the full beauty of the picture.

Impact
What I particularly like about this picture is its ability to convey its title without the viewer noticing that this is an actual (wildlife) sanctuary. The light from above gives off a reassuring glow upon the tranquil environment, implying that those who tread there can find safety. Likewise, the nature on the ground is refreshingly calm without being ominous at the same time.

Overall, it's a photo that stands out, not too much to be legendary but definitely enough to convey the right emotions to the viewer.
